founded in 1990 by The Martini Family

Ann and John Martini moved to Yates County in 1973 to grow grapes and raise their family on 100 acres overlooking Seneca Lake. Ann managed the vineyard and raised the children, while John worked for Cornell University at the Agricultural Experiment Station. The grapes from their vineyards were first sold to the Taylor Wine Company and eventually to wineries across New York State. In 1990, Ann and John opened Anthony Road Wine Company with wines made from the 1989 crop. Their children, Peter, Sarah, Maeve and Elizabeth, have been involved in the vineyard and winery throughout their growing years and are now full-time employees/co-owners of Anthony Road Wine Company. The joy of growing grapes and producing fine wines still motivates and excites the Martini family…more than a quarter-century after the first vines took root.

about the vineyards

The location of the vineyards in close proximity to Seneca Lake lends itself to a favorable microclimate for grape growing. Cooling in the summer and a few degrees above average temperatures during the winter.

Working closely with winemaker Johannes Reinhardt , Peter learned from one of the top winemakers in the United States until 2014 when he took on the role of Head Winemaker.

Nice tasting room, not too crowded with people on a Tuesday. We liked the Devonian White and the Rose of Cabernet Franc and paid a little extra for the Vignoles Trockenbeeren- wow! We'll probably try to have some of these wines shipped to Texas when it gets a little cooler."

"Upon arrival you are greeted inside the door by friendly staff that explains what they offer as well as seating options. We chose to be outside where they had a food truck (there on a Saturday). They also have an area setup for Halloween that was pretty unique and worth the walk over to checkout. One item that was really nice is they have an area with grape vines (labeled by variety). You can pick them off the vine and try them! The wines were refreshing and the stop enjoyable!"
